Justin Wrobleski addressed his recent struggles on the mound, including home runs allowed, during a press conference on August 3, 2026, for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Asked whether opposing hitters might be picking up on his pitches, Wrobleski did not rule it out. "Yeah, it's possible. Um, it's possible. It's something we're going to go look at," he said.
Wrobleski acknowledged that hitters had simply beaten him with good swings in his last outing. "Sometimes teams are going to have honestly good swings off you and um yeah, today that happened. But um you know, I think there's no excuse," he noted. He also drew a distinction between the two home runs he gave up, saying the one hit by Kelly was not a good pitch, while another that left the yard was more borderline. "I think, you know, maybe most ballparks probably hold that or you know, it's it's off the wall and not not a home run there," he explained.
He added that he had altered his approach substantially but still sensed hitters were reading him. "I changed the game plan pretty significantly today and felt like they were still on some stuff," Wrobleski stated. He also reflected on the difficulty of pitching against paid professionals. "They get paid a lot of money to play this game, too. So, um they're good players and um yeah, sometimes you're going to get you're going to get got and it's it's it's a hard league to pitch in," he mentioned.
Wrobleski works with Mark and Connor to address his issues on the mound. "Just just work on stuff, hammer stuff out with with Mark and Connor and everybody and, um, get back to it, get back to throwing the ball well," he said of his plan going forward. Dave Roberts commented on Wrobleski's outing, saying he felt his execution was in a good spot.
Wrobleski acknowledged frustration over his past two outings but committed to continued work. "Have been been pretty frustrated these past two. So, um, just continuing to to, you know, work on things, get better," he added, pointing to sessions with Mark and Connor as the next step toward correcting the issue.
