Freddie Freeman said on August 5, 2026, that the Los Angeles Dodgers will be fine despite their recent struggles.
"We're going to be fine. We just have a really good team," Freeman said, pointing to the roster's overall quality.
Freeman added that the club won't make excuses for its recent form. "You're not going to get an excuse from any of us. We expect to win every time we come to the yard," he said. He acknowledged the team has not played well over the past week but stressed the roster's strength, noting, "We have a great baseball team. We just haven't played well the last week."
Freeman explained that pitching has not been the issue. "Our pitching's been good. We just need to score more runs," he said. According to Freeman, the team has already gone through losing streaks of three or four games a couple of times during the 2026 season without lasting damage, and he pointed to Mookie Betts going four for four as a sign the offense is trending in the right direction.
Looking ahead, Freeman said the responsibility falls on the players themselves. "So, it's on us. We just have to play better on Friday," he said. He added that the plan for Friday is straightforward: "Just hope Roth throws a good game. We score some runs on Friday."
