Edwin Díaz addressed recent command struggles during a press conference on August 13, 2026, saying he wants to do what's best for the Los Angeles Dodgers regardless of his role. "I want to do the best thing for our team," Díaz said.
Díaz noted that his stuff was good in the outing but his execution was not. "I didn't have good command," he said.
Asked about his role going forward, Díaz stated he will accept whatever the team decides. "If they give me the ball in in the night, I will try to do my job. If they give me the ball in another year, I will try to do my job," he said.
Díaz also acknowledged the difficulty of knowing his own capability while struggling to execute it consistently, saying, "it's frustrating because I know that uh that I know my ability." He added that his mental approach on the mound remains unchanged regardless of results. "I always don't try don't think much when I'm pitching, you know, even when I'm strolling. I just try to go out and compete," he explained.
Díaz said he plans to review video after difficult outings and work to correct issues before his next appearance, mentioning, "I want to go home, see some video, and try to get better tomorrow." He also said he has managed to stay positive following tough outings. "Yeah, 100%. You know, I just trying to be positive," Díaz said.
