He said that with more experience now, he better understands what adjustments are needed and is continuing to work through it while still performing in games. He added that his early work before games is where he tries to focus on mechanics, so that once the game begins he can simply compete without overthinking.
Diaz also spoke about a moment after he was hit by a pitch, when a veteran teammate came over to encourage him, telling him he was among the best pitchers around, reassuring him that the team had his back, and urging him to stay in rhythm and slow things down after Diaz admitted he had rushed briefly in that moment. Diaz said he valued the veteran's experience and tried to apply that advice. He described the outing as a positive step after a stretch of inconsistent results, and said he felt healthy and energized heading into his next opportunities to build on the performance.
