Justin Wrobleski said on August 15, 2026 that he figured something out with his delivery during a start against the Milwaukee Brewers, despite allowing four runs on two costly hits.
Wrobleski felt he pitched well overall but was hurt by two bad pitches that were punished, including a home run. "I think today I kind of figured something out a little bit," he said, adding, "really on the whole I threw the ball pretty well."
Describing the home run, Wrobleski gave up the shot to Joey Ortiz on a slider that he said was probably going to bounce. "He got a slider that was probably going to bounce and hit a homer on it," Wrobleski said, calling it a good swing by the hitter. He acknowledged the pattern has been a source of frustration, noting, "unfortunately it's been happening a lot to me lately and it's super frustrating."
Wrobleski explained that the adjustment involved returning to an old mechanical cue he had been searching for throughout the season, one he could not find during spring training. "It's just kind of going back to an old cue that I've been kind of searching for all year," he said.
Wrobleski also said he is at a career-high innings count and feels physically fine as the season progresses. "You're at a high for innings in your career," he stated, adding that his goal is to keep increasing his innings each year to become more valuable to the team. He said he relies on the strength staff and training staff to maintain his body over the course of the long season, and noted he leans on people who have previously handled high innings totals for guidance on managing his workload.
