Emmet Sheehan returned to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ major-league mound on September 7, 2026, after being optioned and said the outing was a step in the right direction.
Sheehan said he worked during the week to lock in his delivery so he could compete freely in the game, describing the process as “making sure I'm hammering it during the week.” He added that “staying relaxed in my throw and not trying to tense up” helped him avoid over-tensing and regain his delivery.
He noted that testing his execution against a major-league lineup was important after his success in Triple-A, saying “it was definitely important to see how it played against a lineup like that.” Sheehan also stated that “it's all about execution,” regardless of how his stuff looks.
Sheehan credited Fetty with calling a strong game and said Mark and the rest of the group created a game plan that he followed: “Fetty called a great game tonight and then Mark and everyone put together a good game plan.”
Sheehan acknowledged that he had previously been optioned by the Los Angeles Dodgers, saying, “I've been optioned before.” His return therefore served as an opportunity to determine what he could bring back to the major-league club.
