Max Muncy discussed a mechanical adjustment on September 11, 2026, saying he had rediscovered the use of his back hip as the Los Angeles Dodgers approached the closing stretch of the regular season.

Muncy said he was “just trying to get my back hip re-engaged” and planned to keep building on the adjustment as the regular season neared its end: “just trying to, you know, keep pulling on those as we get closer.”

Explaining the change, Muncy stated, “I was just not using my back hip at all,” while focusing on staying inside the ball and hitting to center field. He noted that offensive hot and cold stretches are a normal part of baseball: “you go through stretches that are good, you go through stretches that are bad.”

Muncy acknowledged that he needed to pull the ball more in batting practice to regain the feeling of getting his back hip through, even though it was not his preferred approach. “you have to get that feel and you work from there,” he said, adding a joking reference to “for all you couch hitting coaches out there.”

Muncy evaluated the Los Angeles Dodgers' stretch as strong overall, saying, “this has been a good good last week or so offensively for us.” He also said, “pitching has been great. We've been playing good defense. Uh we've been hitting the ball well. We've been getting a lot of opportunities.” The Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Miami Marlins during the stretch, and Muncy played for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
