Dave Roberts congratulated the Los Angeles Dodgers after they clinched a postseason berth on September 13, 2026.
Roberts told the Dodgers to celebrate the achievement while remaining focused on the remaining schedule, saying, “enjoy tonight, celebrate it, but we got a game to win tomorrow.” He also warned that opponents across baseball would target the team after its postseason qualification: “everyone around baseball is going to be coming after us.”
Roberts said the Dodgers needed to improve their baserunning and defense while maintaining their pitching level. “We tighten up the base running, we tighten the defense,” he stated, adding that the team had not yet reached its potential: “we're not even close to playing the baseball that we're going to play.”
Roberts said Yoshinobu Yamamoto was pitching well and was scheduled to pitch the next day, stating, “Yamamoto's pitching well, we got to win tomorrow, too.” Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Edgardo was expected to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers and help the team finish the season. Roberts also credited the success to “good players, a great mindset, and a complete buy-in.”
During the clubhouse celebration, Roberts raised a glass to every member of the team, saying, “raise the glass to every single one of you guys.” He also said, “we got 12 games left. Keep the blinders on,” setting the Dodgers’ immediate outlook as continued pursuit of wins over the remaining 12 games.
