Dave Roberts said on September 14, 2026, that the Los Angeles Dodgers had clinched a berth in the 2026 postseason while he praised the organization and maintained that the club had not yet played its best baseball.
“we haven't come close to playing our best baseball yet,” Roberts said. He added that the Dodgers had 12 games left when they secured the berth and that the club would focus on getting players healthy and finishing strongly, with approximately another month and a half of baseball to play.
Roberts credited ownership, the front office, support staff, player development and scouting, saying, “that says a lot about this entire organization.” He also stated that the Dodgers had reached the postseason in 14 consecutive seasons, matching the baseball record.
Roberts acknowledged that maintaining enthusiasm, focus and hunger after repeated success is difficult, but said, “we're just as hungry as we were in 24 and 25.” He emphasized that reaching the postseason should not be taken for granted, adding, “you should never take this for granted.”
Roberts mentioned that the starting pitcher known as TK had made approximately seven or eight starts while working with several different catchers, and noted, “the last couple have been his best.” After the clinching victory, Roberts led a champagne toast for the Dodgers and said, “we did a champagne toast.”
The Dodgers planned to scan Edgardo when he returned to Los Angeles. Roberts stated that Edgardo's regular season was over, while the hope remained that he could return for the 2026 postseason.
