Freddie Freeman celebrated the Los Angeles Dodgers' division championship at a team press conference on September 17, 2026.
Freeman urged the Dodgers' designated hitter to recover, saying, "Get healthy. We need you next week." He also stated that the division title marked only the beginning of the team's pursuit: "It's only step one."
Freeman credited seven months of work and sacrifice by the players, the organization and their families, saying, "7 months of grinding that we've been going since February." He evaluated the Dodgers as a hungry group, adding, "So, we got a good group and we're hungry."
He noted that players acquired at the trade deadline integrated into the team, saying, "Guys at the deadline came over, fit in perfectly." Freeman also thanked the Dodgers' home fans, stating, "It's all because of you guys." He said the championship was the 10th division championship team he had been part of and cited "50,000 of you every single night when we're at home."
Freeman continued the celebration while wearing goggles as he joked about his burning eyes. He referenced Clayton Kershaw by saying, "You got to feel the burn, like Kershaw said." The Los Angeles Dodgers will continue pursuing a championship after winning the division title.
