Dave Roberts outlined the Los Angeles Dodgers’ roster and pitching plans on September 17, 2026. He said there was “a good chance Andy will be activated next series,” while noting that the Dodgers have nine games remaining and want to win while getting their best players to optimum health for the postseason.
Roberts said Edwin Diaz is active and could have three or four outings to evaluate whether he can be a postseason option. He also said that 10 to 12 outings would be ideal preparation before a major-league game. Dalton Rushing was among the players mentioned during the discussion.
Roberts stated that he was “very hopeful that he'll make a start before the end of the season” regarding Blake Snell. Snell was throwing from 90 feet and felt good afterward, but the Dodgers are considering skipping his final regular-season start because a potential 17 days without competition could be too long.
The Dodgers intend to keep Roki Sasaki built up to four or five innings as insurance for the postseason rotation, Roberts explained. He said Tyler Glasnow is healthy and mentally in a good place, has two regular-season starts remaining, and that the club is relying on his talent to regain form. Roberts also compared the coordination of Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who was flown directly from Miami with one travel leg and completed a strong bullpen session after returning to Pacific Standard Time.
Roberts added that the Dodgers are motivated to secure one of the top two seeds because they believe “our best baseball is ahead of us.” He declined to hold a special celebratory toast, saying, “I'm not going to do a special toast cuz there's a lot of other players that were part of this, too.”
