Miguel Rojas said on October 6, 2026, that he is not yet certain whether he will retire and currently leans toward continuing his playing career.
Rojas said the Los Angeles Dodgers are prepared to face Chris Sale in a long, demanding matchup, after Sale threw a complete game against the Dodgers in the previous matchup, according to Rojas. “We're going to have to fight every pitch, every out,” Rojas said. He added that the Dodgers will review all of their at-bats against Sale rather than only the most recent game and remain focused on the current game: “It's all about today.”
Rojas explained that the Dodgers' offensive approach includes situational execution, including moving runners, rather than relying only on home runs. “Our game is way more broader than just a home run,” he stated. He also cited the Dodgers' past use of three or four bullpen games during their 2024 World Series run and a bullpen game in a five-game elimination game against the San Diego Padres, which he said the Dodgers won.
Rojas praised Yoshinobu Yamamoto, saying Yamamoto's consistency and composure in October come from repeating his routines regardless of the stage. “His confidence and his ability to repeat his routines every single time,” Rojas noted.
Rojas also discussed his U.S. citizenship process. He said he knew all 100 test questions, answered all eight questions correctly, passed the test and was close to becoming a U.S. citizen, although additional form reviews remained because of time spent outside the country. Rojas said Miami has been home to him for 15 years and that he has lived in the United States for 21 years. He expressed pride in his family and said the examiner recognized him as a baseball player only after learning that he worked for the Dodgers.
Rojas said his current preference between continuing to play and leaving the game is 40-60, and he will defer retirement discussions until after the season. “After that we will have conversations,” he said, while noting that the Dodgers have the opportunity to win the series by winning two more games.
