Tarik Skubal described the pressure surrounding the Los Angeles Dodgers as a privilege on October 11, 2026.
“The pressure surrounding the Dodgers, I think, is all it's all a privilege,” Skubal said. He explained that postseason expectations are what athletes want, adding, “This is what you want to be in. You want to have expectation to win.” He said he felt fresh, healthy, and able to execute pitches before the postseason start.
Skubal stated that his approach would be to simplify the moment, be himself, compete, and do everything possible to give the Dodgers a chance to win. He said extra rest leads him to throw additional bullpen sessions to maintain stimulus, while emphasizing that less work can be better at this point in the year. Skubal also said he trusts the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen.
Skubal noted that he changed his pre-start routine after he was injured in 2022. He said isolating himself with headphones and trying to appear locked in had left him mentally exhausted by the second or third inning, adding, “I just found it to be pretty exhausting. I don't think it's who I am.” He said the Dodgers welcomed him openly and encouraged players to be themselves.
Skubal said the Dodgers share his goal of winning a World Series. He praised the opposing players, saying, “It's a very talented roster,” and said he respects the opposing players. He also said he admires Murf, while Dave Roberts removed him when Roberts came and shook his hand. Skubal said he had been a Dodger for two months.
When asked about Spotted Cow, a local beer, Skubal replied, “Yeah, it's good.” His stated plan remains to simplify the moment, compete, and put the Dodgers in position to win.
