Max Muncy said on October 16, 2026, that the Los Angeles Dodgers' multi-year run ended after the team fell short and "the train finally ran out of steam."
Muncy acknowledged that the Dodgers did not play well and were ultimately beaten, saying, "We didn't play well." He also stated that reaching the end requires "a little luck," skill, talent and good decisions, while adding that the Milwaukee Brewers "played really really well" against the Dodgers.
Muncy credited the Brewers' bullpen for "being extremely good and making pitches," while also taking responsibility for the Dodgers not finishing their opportunities. He congratulated the Brewers and noted that the Dodgers had a three-year run during which, in his words, "for three years straight, we left it all out there."
He described the Dodgers clubhouse as a special brotherhood, saying, "I wouldn't want to go through this with any other group of guys." Muncy added that "none of us quit" and expressed gratitude for the work every player put in, although he acknowledged that "we didn't have it this." He also described the elimination as difficult to express, saying, "it's kind of hard to put into words how much this hurts right now."
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be ready to return to competition in the 2027 season, Muncy said: "2027 we're going to be ready to get right back to it."
