Nothing came easy at Wrigley Field. Two solo home runs were all the offense either team could produce, and that was enough for New York to shut out Chicago 2-0.

Will Warren was the difference. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed four hits and no runs, walked none and struck out seven, running his record to 8-5 with a 4.14 ERA. The Yankees bullpen closed it out with 2.1 scoreless innings, and David Bednar worked the ninth for his 23rd save of the season.
Amed Rosario put New York ahead in the fourth inning, homering to center on a 450-foot shot that turned a scoreless tie into a 1-0 lead. Spencer Jones added to it in the fifth, homering to right center for a 2-0 score. Those two swings accounted for every run of the game.
Shota Imanaga matched Warren for most of the night, going 6.2 innings and allowing four hits and 2 runs (2 earned) with no walks and six strikeouts. It was a strong outing wasted; Imanaga took the loss, falling to 7-9 with a 3.67 ERA. Chicago managed five hits but could not push a run across against Warren or the Yankees' relievers.
New York improved to 62-48, snapping a losing streak with the win, while Chicago fell to 62-48 as well. Rosario, who scored the game's first run, sits at 492 career runs, 8 shy of the 500 mark.
