The game was tight for four innings. Then Houston's fifth turned it into a laugher. The Astros scored four runs in the frame, Taylor Trammell capped it with a three-run homer, and Houston cruised to a 7-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Trammell went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and three RBIs, all of it coming on his 388-foot home run to right field. Jose Altuve added three hits in four at-bats, scoring twice and driving in two runs, including the infield single that put Houston ahead for good. Christian Walker reached base twice and scored twice, while Yainer Diaz drove in a run as part of a two-hit night.
Houston had already led 0-2 after a two-run fourth, but Toronto answered in the fifth. Myles Straw tripled home Andres Gimenez to make it 1-2, then scored himself on a wild pitch by Hayden Wesneski to tie it at 2-2. The tie lasted one batter. Altuve reached on an infield single to shortstop to score Yordan Alvarez and put Houston back in front 2-3, a lead the Astros never lost. Trammell followed with his three-run shot to make it 2-6, and Houston tacked on a run in the seventh when Altuve singled home Walker.
Toronto starter Trey Yesavage had opened the game with two scoreless innings, but reliever Chad Dallas took the loss after allowing 6 runs on 7 hits over 3.0 innings, walking four and striking out three. The Blue Jays bullpen overall was rocked for 7 runs across 6.0 innings. Wesneski, meanwhile, worked 6.0 innings for Houston, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with four strikeouts to pick up the win, and the Astros bullpen closed it out with 3.0 scoreless innings.
The win moved Houston to 59-56, sitting atop its division, while Toronto fell to 53-61. Wesneski improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3.86 ERA, and the Astros bullpen's clean finish backed a start that, combined with the fifth-inning explosion, was more than enough.
