Clement went 1-for-4 with the go-ahead two-run shot, finishing with 2 RBI. Jesus Sanchez matched him in impact, going 1-for-3 with a home run, 2 RBI and a walk, and was named the game's MVP. Kazuma Okamoto also drove in a run, going 1-for-5, and Myles Straw added a double.
Houston built its lead in the third inning, when Jose Altuve led off with a home run to left, and Christian Walker followed later in the frame with a double that scored Daulton Varsho, before LaMonte Wade's single brought home Walker. That three-run inning gave the Astros a 3-0 cushion. Toronto answered in the sixth: Okamoto singled home Straw to make it 3-1, and Sanchez followed with a two-run homer to right that tied the game at 3-3. The score held until the 10th, when Clement's homer to left scored Luis Urias and put Toronto in front, 5-3. Houston answered with Yordan Alvarez's RBI single that brought home Jeremy Pena, but the Astros could not complete the comeback.
Hunter Brown started for Houston and allowed 3 runs on 3 hits over 6.0 innings with 8 strikeouts, leaving with the game tied. Bennett Sousa took the loss out of the bullpen, charged with 2 runs (1 earned) in 1.0 inning. For Toronto, Jameson Taillon allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 4.0 innings before the bullpen took over. Louie Varland picked up the win, and Chase Lee closed it out for his first save of the season.
The result snapped Houston's momentum as the Astros dropped to 59-57, while Toronto improved to 54-61, snapping a stretch with its first win after a loss. Houston still holds first place in its division, but Friday night belonged to Toronto's late-inning power.
