St. Louis needed one inning to flip this game and never let go. The Cardinals answered an early Rockies run with two of their own in the second, added another in the third, and held on for a 3-2 win at Busch Stadium.

Ivan Herrera supplied the signature blow, going 1-for-4 with a home run to left field that traveled 379 feet and drove in a run. It was the last of St. Louis' three runs and gave the Cardinals a cushion they would not surrender. Masyn Winn also factored in, reaching base and scoring during the decisive second inning, finishing 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Colorado struck first when Johnston grounded out to shortstop in the second, scoring Rumfield and sending Castro to third for a 1-0 lead. St. Louis answered right back in the bottom half: Church's sacrifice fly to center brought home Crooks to tie it, and Torres followed with a sacrifice fly to left that scored Winn and put the Cardinals ahead for good. Herrera's homer in the third made it 1-3. Colorado trimmed the deficit in the fourth when Johnston again grounded out, this time to second base, scoring Rumfield and moving Castro to third, but the Rockies got no closer.
Ryan Feltner took the loss for Colorado, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. TJ Rumfield and Willi Castro each had multi-hit games for the Rockies, with Rumfield going 3-for-4 and Jake McCarthy adding a 3-for-4 effort of his own, but Colorado's offense could not push across more than two runs. Kyle Leahy earned the win for St. Louis, striking out 8 over 5.0 innings while allowing 2 runs on 8 hits without issuing a walk. Riley O'Brien closed it out with a scoreless inning for his 28th save.
The win pushed St. Louis to 58-58, extending its winning streak to two games. Colorado dropped to 45-71, losing its fourth straight.
