New York trailed by one heading into the bottom of the ninth. Two swings later, it was over. The Mets scored twice in the final frame to beat the Nationals 5-4 at Citi Field, turning a quiet late-game deficit into a walk-off celebration.

Francisco Lindor delivered the winning blow, singling to right to bring home Pache and push New York ahead 4-5 after Washington had led 4-3. Lindor finished 2-for-4 with an RBI, part of a Mets lineup that got its first push from Carson Benge, who went deep and finished 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Jared Young added two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
The ninth inning turned in a hurry. Francisco Alvarez doubled to left to tie the game at 4-4, scoring Baty and sending Pache to third. Two batters later, Lindor's single to right brought Pache home for the winning run, with Robert Jr. moving to third. Before that, the game had been defined by home runs: Young's two-run double had staked New York to an early 0-2 lead in the first, Andres Chaparro had answered with a solo shot to left in the fourth, and Brady House's three-run blast in the sixth put Washington ahead 4-2 before Carson Benge answered right back with a solo homer of his own.
Washington starter Brad Lord did not survive the first, departing after 0.2 innings, 1 hit and 2 runs allowed. The bullpen did most of the work behind him, with Will Dion holding the Mets scoreless over 4.1 innings with 7 strikeouts. But Washington's relief corps overall allowed 3 runs across 7.2 innings, and Yovanny Cruz took the loss after allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in just 0.1 innings during the decisive ninth. Mets starter Sean Manaea worked 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 7 strikeouts, and Jefry Yan picked up the win after 1.2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts, his first victory of the season.
The win pushed New York's streak to two straight and improved the Mets to 55-69. Washington, which had won consecutive games entering the night, fell to 60-65 with its second straight loss.
