Ryan Vilade gave the Rays their only real highlight, going 3-for-4 with a homer and a double. His solo shot to center in the fourth inning put Tampa Bay ahead 1-0, and he scored again later in the game. It wasn't enough to slow down what followed.
Baltimore's decisive move came in the fifth. Jackson Holliday's single tied the game at 1-1, scoring Taveras, and two batters later Pete Alonso's double brought home both Holliday and Mayo to make it 3-1 and put the Orioles ahead for good. The sixth inning turned it into a laugher: Colton Cowser homered to right center to score Taveras, Holliday added a two-run double that scored Pozo and Mayo, and Christian Encarnacion-Strand's double plated Henderson, Holliday and Alonso to make it 10-1. Tampa Bay's Jorge Mateo singled home Vilade in the bottom half, but the deficit was well beyond reach by then.
Freddy Peralta took the loss, allowing 2 runs (2 earned) over 4.2 innings with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts before the Rays bullpen was torched for 8 runs across 4.1 innings. Trevor Rogers picked up the win for Baltimore, working 6.0 innings and allowing 2 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits with 6 strikeouts, improving to 8-8. The Orioles bullpen backed him up with three scoreless innings.
Holliday finished with 2 hits, 2 runs and 3 RBI, while Cowser drove in 2 runs on his two-hit night, carrying Baltimore's offense to a third straight win as the Orioles improved to 61-63. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, dropped its third in a row and fell to 74-49 despite still sitting atop the division.
