Nothing dropped for the Cubs all night. Jose Urquidy made sure of that, working through six innings without allowing a run, and the White Sox made just enough noise late to beat Chicago 3-0 at Wrigley Field.

Urquidy was the difference. He struck out eight, walked none and scattered two hits across 6.0 innings, needing only 68 pitches to keep the Cubs off the board. It was the kind of outing that renders a thin scoreline moot. Grant Taylor closed it out with a scoreless inning, striking out two and picking up his save.
The game stayed scoreless until the sixth, when Andrew Benintendi lined a single to center field to score Miguel Vargas, putting the White Sox ahead 1-0. Chicago added to the margin in the eighth when Braden Montgomery's double deflected off first baseman Michael Busch, scoring both Vargas and Randal Grichuk to make it 3-0.
Clay Holmes took the loss for the Cubs despite pitching into the sixth, allowing 1 run on 6 hits over 5.1 innings with 2 walks and a strikeout. The Cubs' offense never found traction, managing no hits as a team and getting shut out at home. Seiya Suzuki walked twice but was stranded, and Michael Busch went hitless in three at-bats.
The result dropped the Cubs to 74-54, snapping their momentum with a loss, while the White Sox improved to 66-60 and moved into first place in their division. Miguel Vargas finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two walks, while Vargas, Benintendi and Grichuk combined to produce every run of the game for Chicago's South Side club.
