Brooks Lee powered Minnesota’s offense with a pair of impactful swings. His homer helped bring the Twins back into the game, and his single later tied it, but Minnesota could not produce another scoring play after that point.
Chicago struck first when Andrew Benintendi’s single brought Miguel Vargas home. Colson Montgomery’s homer then brought home Benintendi and Braden Montgomery. Minnesota answered when Brooks Lee’s homer scored Luke Keaschall, followed by Kody Clemens’ homer. Lee’s single brought Trevor Larnach home to tie the game, but Benintendi’s double sent Munetaka Murakami across the plate for the go-ahead run.
Dean Kremer took the loss for Minnesota after Chicago’s early pressure. Grant Taylor earned the win by keeping the Twins scoreless through his appearance, and Bryan Hudson closed the game with a scoreless ninth.
