deGrom was the story on the mound, working seven scoreless innings and striking out eight. He allowed Oakland little room to generate momentum and earned the win.
Texas took the lead in the second when Brandon Nimmo scored on Elias Díaz’s groundout. Cody Freeman then brought Jake Burger home with a single. Nimmo later drove in Corey Seager with a single, and Justin Foscue added a home run in the fourth. In the fifth, Nimmo’s sacrifice fly brought Ezequiel Duran home, Burger’s single scored Seager, and Evan Carter’s force out brought Wyatt Langford across. Freeman added another run-scoring single in the eighth, bringing Logan O'Hoppe home.
Gage Jump was charged with the loss after Texas broke through against him. Oakland finally scored when Carlos Cortes came home on Darell Hernaiz’s sacrifice fly, but the late response could not change the shape of the game.
