Carter Jensen powered Kansas City’s offense with homers in the opening inning and again in the fourth. Salvador Perez also homered in the first, while Michael Massey and Jac Caglianone supplied extra-base hits during the Royals’ early surge.
Otto Lopez opened Miami’s scoring with a triple that brought Heriberto Hernández home, and Kyle Stowers followed with a single that scored Lopez. After Kansas City pulled ahead, Hernández’s ground-rule double brought Jared Serna home later in the game. Griffin Conine’s single scored Javier Sanoja, and Jared Serna’s sacrifice fly brought Jakob Marsee home to tie the game. Hernández then doubled to score Griffin Conine and give Miami the lead. Javier Sanoja and Jakob Marsee added insurance homers in the ninth.
Noah Cameron kept Kansas City in the game through his outing, but Jose Cuas absorbed the loss after Miami regained control. Cade Gibson earned the win, and Calvin Faucher closed the ninth for Miami.
Miami extended its winning streak, while Kansas City’s losing streak continued. The Marlins’ seesaw finish belonged to the late swing that followed the tie.
