Joshua Baez was at the center of St. Louis' attack, first bringing Jordan Walker home with a single and later bringing Alec Burleson home with a double. Alec Burleson also helped keep the offense moving, doubling to bring Iván Herrera home before adding another run-producing single.

Meidroth's first-inning homer gave Chicago the early lead, and his homer in the third tied the game again. Joshua Baez's single then put St. Louis ahead, and the Cardinals extended the lead in the fifth when Alec Burleson's single brought Jordan Walker home, Joshua Baez's double brought Burleson home, and Leo Bernal's single brought Baez home. Bernal added another run-producing single in the seventh, while Munetaka Murakami's force out brought Sam Antonacci home for Chicago in the eighth.

Anthony Kay took the loss for Chicago after working into the middle innings. Gordon Graceffo earned the win for St. Louis, and the Cardinals' pitching held the White Sox at bay after the late Chicago run.

St. Louis extended its winning streak, while Chicago's losing streak continued. The early back-and-forth shaped the night, but the Cardinals' middle-inning surge supplied the separation.
