Arizona Diamondbacks turned an early burst into a win over the Colorado Rockies, then held off a late rally that made the finish uncomfortable. Gabriel Moreno’s opening-inning homer put Arizona in front, and the Diamondbacks never surrendered that lead.

Eduardo Rodriguez anchored Arizona’s effort with a strong start, working through six innings while allowing only two earned runs and striking out three. His work gave the Diamondbacks room to absorb Colorado’s surge.

Moreno’s homer brought Lars Nootbaar and Ketel Marte home and established Arizona’s advantage. Pavin Smith later singled to bring Geraldo Perdomo across, while Nolan Arenado’s homer brought Smith home. Ketel Marte’s double scored Nootbaar, and James McCann added a homer in the sixth.

Colorado answered with Kyle Karros’ homer, Hunter Goodman’s single that scored Zac Veen, and Cole Carrigg’s homer that brought Goodman and TJ Rumfield home. Veen’s homer and TJ Rumfield’s double added further pressure, but Tanner Gordon’s early struggles left the Rockies chasing from the start.

Arizona extended its winning streak, while Colorado’s losing streak continued. The game belonged to the Diamondbacks because of the early burst, even as the Rockies kept the final innings alive.
