Justin Wrobleski took responsibility on August 9, 2026, for a tough outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks, saying his execution fell short. "I'm just not good enough right now," the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher said.
Wrobleski said his execution has not been sharp recently, which he pointed to as the source of the difficult results. "Execution just hasn't been as good," he noted. He identified a specific pitch to Ketel Marte as the turning point of the outing, explaining, "I got the ball into Marte, but just not, you know, where I wanted it in, and you know, he got one and that was kind of the killer of the outing." He also mentioned leaving a couple of pitches up in the middle of the plate that opponents were able to handle.
Despite the results, Wrobleski said he felt physically sound on the mound. "My throws felt really good. I know my stuff's good. It's just a matter of again just executing a lot better," he stated, framing the issue as one of execution rather than ability.
Looking ahead to his next outing, Wrobleski said he does not plan sweeping mechanical adjustments. "It's not a crazy change or anything wild that I have to do. It's just focusing more on that execution piece," he explained. He added that he intends to keep working rather than dwell on the setback: "I know I'm not the type to give up. So I'm ready to bear down."
Wrobleski also acknowledged a bad throw during a bunt play in which a teammate named Tommy came over to cover first base. "Tommy's coming over to cover and yeah, I just made a bad throw and it happens," he said. He was uncertain whether that play changed the course of the outing, adding, "I don't know if that changes the outing. I don't know what it does. I can't tell you. But yeah, definitely would have helped."
