Rodriguez was the story on the mound. He worked 7.0 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 walks and 9 strikeouts, carrying a 2.70 ERA. It was his 11th win of the season against 4 losses. Kevin Ginkel closed it out with a scoreless inning, striking out two for his first save of the year.
Marte's two-run homer to left in the first inning, scoring Moreno, gave Arizona the lead it never lost. The Diamondbacks added to it in the second: Waldschmidt's sacrifice bunt brought home Locklear, aided by a throwing error from Wrobleski, and Moreno's double scored Carroll to make it 4-0.
