Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on August 9, 2026 that the team is not making adjustments at the plate, pointing to trouble hitting fastballs and vulnerability against changeups.
"We weren't hitting the fast ball and we were exposing ourselves to the change up specifically," Roberts said, describing the offensive struggles. He added that the bullpen performed well following Justin Wrobleski's start, saying, "the bullpin was fantastic. I I thought they gave us a chance." Wrobleski started the game for the Dodgers, and Roberts said the lacked command of his pitches. Gabriel Moreno hit a double against Wrobleski, and Ketel Marte hit a home run against him, both cited by Roberts as examples of hard contact allowed during the outing.
Roberts acknowledged the club is not playing up to its capabilities during the current stretch, noting the Dodgers have gone 9-15 in their last 24 games and 21-21 in their last 42 games. He said there is no panic surrounding the team, stating, "I don't think there's concern... there's certainly not panic," while stressing that the group needs to find a way to win consistently. Roberts also said the team needs to make adjustments collectively rather than singling out one area, noting, "we have to make adjustments."
Roberts pointed to a specific defensive sequence involving Geraldo Perdomo, who crossed into the eyesight of Max Muncy near the base. He called it a heady play by Perdomo, saying he was running inside the baseline, but added that it did not amount to obstruction. Roberts described the sequence as strange, noting, "it was one of those uh very uh weird play, but it's not obstruction," and said it should simply be handled next time by throwing through it. Separately, Roberts noted that Muncy knocked down a hard-hit ball off Eduardo Rodriguez.
Roberts said the team is getting players back and needs time for things to come together while cleaning up certain issues, noting, "I've got an eye on on kind of some things that certainly need to be cleaned up." He also noted that the Kansas City Royals, a young team fighting for playing time and service time, are coming up next on the schedule.
