Freddie Freeman said on September 2, 2026, that the Los Angeles Dodgers must keep working through their struggles with runners in scoring position while maintaining perspective as a great, resilient team.
Freeman said there was “no clear-cut answer” for the Dodgers’ poor hitting in those situations. He acknowledged that the team went one-for-18 with runners in scoring position, adding, “I know that everyone doesn't want to hear it and the fans don't want to hear it.”
Freeman pointed to the St. Louis Cardinals’ sixth-inning big hits as the difference in the loss, saying, “they got the big hits and that's why they ended up winning.” The Cardinals defeated the Dodgers.
Freeman noted that the offense was showing signs of improvement despite the loss, saying, “you're starting to see some life out of the offense.” He also stated that the Dodgers were 25-plus games over.500, were back-to-back World Series champions and played a 162-game season.
Freeman described the Dodgers as a resilient group with experience in difficult situations. “It's always plug away,” he said, adding, “hopefully we can put it together the last 20 plus games” and “great teams go through it and we'll be all right.”
