Freddie Freeman said on September 27, 2026, that he planned to use the Los Angeles Dodgers' bye period for daily batting practice and swing adjustments before the NLDS.
Freeman said, "I'm going to hit BP every single day on the field." He added that he expected to have at least 400 swings before live batting practice and planned to work on his swing mechanics during the available five days.
Freeman noted, "I have no pain in my knee right now." He said knee problems had affected him in three- or four-day stretches during the preceding couple of months, at times preventing him from getting into his front side and potentially contributing to bad habits.
Freeman stated, "I'm going to try what I used in the World Series in 24, kind of the step out thought." He said the approach would help him avoid bending over and cutting off his swing. He also described his father as a single father who raised Freddie Freeman and his two brothers, continued working and ran a business with his brother after Freeman's mother died when he was 10.
Freeman said, "I'm not thinking about 3P. I'm thinking about the NLDS." He expressed confidence in Yoshinobu Yamamoto and described the Dodgers' pitching staff as including Blake Snell, Shohei Ohtani and Tyler Glasnow among four number-one pitchers. He also said the Dodgers' experience, including their postseason exposure and time together, would benefit them, while he credited his father's response to family hardship with teaching him not to make excuses.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will face their NLDS opponent, and Freeman's stated plan is to complete daily batting practice and mechanical work before Saturday's game preparation.
