Mookie Betts said on October 10, 2026, that the Los Angeles Dodgers must treat the Milwaukee Brewers' current NLCS team as completely separate from 2025's club.
“You got to keep them completely completely separate,” Betts said. He noted that the Brewers are a complete team, combining small ball, power, pitching and baserunning, adding, “They do everything.”
Betts stated that the Dodgers must match Milwaukee's all-around play while maintaining their intention to produce quality at-bats throughout the postseason. “We have to match them,” he said.
Betts said the Brewers' series against the San Diego Padres showed they are not merely a bunting and hit-and-run team, citing home runs, walks and extra-base hits. He mentioned Contreras and Chera hitting home runs, and said Milwaukee's postseason experience and increased confidence mean “they can make a huge jump.”
Betts also said the Brewers won 100 games. He explained that the league has probably lost 20 or 30 points on batting average overall, while competition against elite pitching may reduce averages by another 20 points. “I can only control what I can control,” Betts said, emphasizing that individual achievement is secondary to helping his teammates: “I just want to be the best player I can be to help the boys.”
