Stewart went 1-for-4 with three RBI, all of them coming on the swing that decided the game. JJ Bleday also went deep, a solo shot that tied the score earlier in the fourth inning, finishing 1-for-4 with one RBI. Dane Myers added two hits, and Edwin Arroyo and Tyler Stephenson each reached and scored during Cincinnati's back-and-forth night.
The scoring flow tilted three times before it settled. Cal Raleigh's RBI single in the second scored Naylor and put Seattle up 0-1. Bleday's homer to right in the fourth tied it at 1-1, and Myers followed with an infield single that brought home Stephenson to put Cincinnati ahead. Seattle answered in the bottom half when Luke Raley singled to center, scoring both Arozarena and Naylor to make it 2-3. That lead held until the seventh, when Stewart's homer to right center scored Arroyo and Hayes alongside himself, pushing Cincinnati back in front for good at 5-3.
Seattle starter Emerson Hancock allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.0 innings with 3 strikeouts, keeping the Mariners in position before the bullpen faltered. Reliever Eduard Bazardo took the loss, charged with 3 runs on 2 hits in 1.0 inning of work, and it was his outing in the seventh that let Cincinnati break the game open. Brady Singer picked up the win for the Reds, working 6.2 innings and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts, and Emilio Pagan closed it out with a scoreless ninth for his save.
Cincinnati improved to 47-54, extending its winning streak to two games. Seattle fell to 51-52, losing its second straight.
