Coby Mayo was at the center of it all, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and 2 walks and delivering a two-run triple in the eighth inning that pulled Baltimore even. He later scored the tie-breaking run in the 11th. Jackson Holliday added two hits and 3 RBI, driving in a pair in the seventh and adding the go-ahead RBI single in the 11th before Detroit answered.
Baltimore's comeback began in the seventh, when Leody Taveras singled home Gunnar Henderson, Holliday followed with a two-run single scoring Coby Mayo and Taveras, and Taylor Ward capped the rally with a two-run single, cutting the deficit before an eighth-inning tying blow. Mayo's two-run triple in the eighth, scoring Henderson and Dylan Beavers, tied the game at 7-7. The Orioles then went ahead in the 11th on Yohel Pozo's sacrifice fly that scored Christian Encarnacion-Strand, and Holliday's single brought home Mayo to make it 9-7. Detroit answered immediately when Spencer Torkelson homered to left, scoring Eduardo Valencia and tying the game at 9-9. But in the 12th, Colton Cowser singled to center to score Ward and give Baltimore the lead for good.
Detroit starter Tarik Skubal allowed 3 runs (3 earned) over 6.2 innings with 6 strikeouts, and the Tigers built their early lead off Javier Baez's two-run single in the third — aided by a throwing error from Pete Alonso — and a sacrifice fly from Kevin McGonigle. Zach McKinstry's two-run double in the sixth pushed the lead to 7-0. Baltimore starter Trevor Rogers surrendered 7 runs (4 earned) over 6.0 innings, but the bullpens shifted the game's balance: Detroit's relief corps allowed 7 runs across 5.1 innings, while Baltimore's bullpen held Detroit to 2 runs over 6.0 innings. Grant Wolfram picked up the win, and Andrew Kittredge closed it out for his fourth save of the season.
Drew Sommers took the loss for Detroit after allowing 1 run in 1.0 inning. Baltimore improved to 53-56, snapping out of its recent skid with a second straight positive result, while Detroit fell to 51-58.
