Nothing stayed settled for long at Citi Field. The Mets and Marlins traded the lead three times over the final three innings before New York finally pulled away in the eighth for a 4-2 win.

Luis Robert supplied the biggest swing of the night, singling to left in the eighth to drive in two runs and put the Mets ahead for good. He finished 1-for-4 with 2 RBI. Bo Bichette added two hits, including a double, and scored a run, sitting at 491 career runs, nine short of the 500 milestone. Francisco Lindor also drove in a run and scored one of his own.

The Mets broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth when Robert singled to left, and both Bichette and Benge scored on the play. That capped a stretch in which the lead changed hands repeatedly: Kyle Stowers had put Miami up with a solo homer in the fourth, Lindor tied it with a single in the sixth, and New York went ahead an inning later when Lindor scored on a fielding error by third baseman Pauley. Jakob Marsee answered right back with a solo home run in the seventh to tie it again before Robert's go-ahead single settled things.

Marlins starter Eury Perez kept Miami in it for most of the night, working 6.0 innings and allowing 2 runs, only 1 earned, while striking out 6. But the bullpen unraveled behind him — Michael Petersen was charged with the loss after allowing 2 runs in just 0.2 innings, and Miami's relief corps combined for 2 runs (2 earned) over 2.0 innings. Nolan McLean started for New York and matched Perez for stretches, going 6.1 innings with 2 runs allowed and 6 strikeouts of his own, though he did not factor into the decision.

Brooks Raley picked up the win after 1.2 scoreless innings in relief, and Devin Williams closed it out with a scoreless ninth for his 16th save. The Mets, who improved to 47-63, snapped a stretch of recent frustration with the victory. Miami slipped to 55-55.
