George Kirby delivered the game's defining stretch of calm before the chaos, working 7.0 innings and allowing just five hits and no runs, with one walk and three strikeouts. He handed a 6-0 lead to the bullpen, which could not hold it. Andres Munoz worked the ninth and earned the win, though he allowed a run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Seattle built its cushion in pieces. Josh Naylor's double in the first scored Arozarena and Young to make it 2-0. Young added a run-scoring single in the sixth to bring home Emerson.
