Seiya Suzuki was named game MVP after going 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a walk. His two-run shot in the first inning immediately answered a three-run blast from the Dodgers, setting the tone for a game that never let the Cubs fall too far behind. Michael Busch backed him up with a 2-for-4 night, a homer and three RBIs, while Carson Kelly added a home run and three RBIs of his own.
Los Angeles struck first when Edman homered to left, scoring Ohtani and Pages to make it 3-0. But Suzuki countered immediately with his own two-run homer to left center, scoring Crow-Armstrong and cutting the deficit to 3-2. The Cubs took the lead for good in the second inning, when Alcantara's two-run homer to left center scored Swanson and made it 3-4, marking the game's decisive go-ahead swing. Carson Kelly padded the lead in the third with a two-run homer that scored Bregman, and Busch went deep in the fifth for a solo shot. The sixth inning broke the game open: Kelly walked in a run, then Busch's single scored two more, with two Dodgers throwing and fielding errors turning the frame into a three-run outburst that pushed the score to 10-5.
Dodgers starter Justin Wrobleski struggled from the outset, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits over 4.1 innings with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts, and took the loss to fall to 11-3 with a 3.31 ERA. Teoscar Hernandez answered late with a solo homer to left center in the sixth, and Tucker and Ohtani each collected two hits, but the Dodgers' bullpen also gave up three runs over 3.2 innings and couldn't slow the Cubs' offense.
Matt Boyd got the win for Chicago despite allowing 5 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits over 6.2 innings, improving to 7-1 with a 3.59 ERA. The Cubs bullpen closed it out with 2.1 scoreless innings. Chicago improved to 64-49 and extended its winning streak to two, while Los Angeles fell to 69-44 and dropped its fourth straight.
