It took 13 innings, seven lead changes and 23 combined runs, but the Red Sox finally put the White Sox away. Durbin's single in the bottom of the 13th scored Sogard and gave Boston a 12-11 win that neither side seemed willing to settle quietly.

Chase Meidroth was at the center of the chaos for Chicago. He went 3-for-5 with two home runs, four RBI and two walks, first putting the White Sox ahead with a two-run shot in the third inning that scored B. Montgomery, then doing it again in the 10th with a two-run homer that also brought home B. Montgomery and briefly put Chicago back on top.
The end came in the 13th, when Durbin's single to center brought in Sogard for the winning run, with Abreu advancing to second on the play. It capped a wild final stretch in which the lead changed hands repeatedly — Sogard scored on Rogers' sacrifice fly in the 12th to tie it at 11-11, and Antonacci's sacrifice fly for Chicago in the 11th had put the White Sox back in front before Abreu answered with a sac fly of his own to tie it again at 10-10.
Boston starter Ranger Suarez lasted three innings, allowing four runs, three earned, before handing off to a bullpen that worked 10.0 innings and allowed seven runs. Chicago starter Luis Castillo went four innings and allowed five runs, all earned, and the White Sox bullpen covered 8.1 innings with seven runs allowed of its own. Erick Fedde took the loss after allowing a run in just a third of an inning, dropping to 6-7, while Brayan Bello earned the win after two scoreless-for-Boston innings in relief, allowing one run on three hits to improve to 4-6. Connor Wong and Anthony Seigler each drove in runs with extra-base hits for Boston, with Wong's third-inning homer scoring Seigler and Seigler's fourth-inning double scoring both Monasterio and Yoshida to tie the game at 5-5.
The win was Boston's eighth straight, improving the Red Sox to 63-51 and third in their division. Chicago fell to 59-55, losing its third in a row despite sitting atop its own division at 1st place entering the day.
