Sandy Alcantara made sure this one was decided early and never in doubt. The Marlins broke through with a four-run third inning, and Alcantara did the rest, holding the Angels off the board across seven innings in a 7-0 win at loanDepot park.

Alcantara struck out eight and walked just one over 7.0 innings, allowing three hits and no runs. He improved to 13-6 with the win, carrying a 3.52 ERA. The Marlins bullpen closed it out with two scoreless innings behind him, and Los Angeles never found an answer.
Miami's third inning turned the game. Xavier Edwards doubled to left to bring home Caissie and Sanoja, giving the Marlins a lead they would never relinquish. Otto Lopez followed with a single to left that scored Edwards and Marsee, pushing the advantage to 4-0. Miami added three more in the fifth: Edwards singled home Marsee, Griffin Conine singled in Edwards, and Heriberto Hernández doubled to center to bring in Lopez, stretching the margin to 7-0.
Walbert Urena couldn't survive the damage, allowing four runs on four hits with three walks over 2.1 innings before departing with the loss, falling to 7-8 with a 2.83 ERA. Brett Kerry followed out of the bullpen and worked 5.2 innings, allowing three runs on six hits with seven strikeouts, but by then the deficit was too much for the Angels' offense, which managed just five hits and was shut out by Miami's pitching staff.
Edwards finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, while Lopez went 2-for-3 with two RBI. The win moved Miami to 59-59, snapping out of a stretch with a one-game winning streak. Los Angeles dropped to 45-72, having lost its previous game as well.
