Walker Buehler anchored the start, working 6.0 innings and allowing just 1 run on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. The right-hander improved to 7-5 with the win, carrying a 4.88 ERA into the clubhouse afterward. He needed only 98 pitches to get through six, letting the offense do the heavy lifting behind him.

The game turned in the second inning. Jake Cronenworth doubled to left to bring home Hays and put the Padres ahead 0-1, a lead they would never relinquish. Two batters later, Luis Rengifo delivered the blow that buried Milwaukee, homering to left for a grand slam that scored Campusano, Cronenworth and Tatis Jr. and made it 0-5. San Diego kept adding on: Fernando Tatis homered to right in the fourth, Luis Campusano homered to left center in the fifth to score Hays, and the Padres tacked on three more in the sixth on a Jackson Merrill double, a France groundout and a Campusano single that scored on a throwing error by left fielder Lockridge.

Kyle Harrison had no answers. The Brewers left-hander lasted just 4.2 innings, allowing 8 runs, all earned, on 10 hits with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks, taking the loss to fall to 9-3 with a 3.47 ERA. Milwaukee's lone bright spots came on a Chourio groundout that scored Hamilton in the third and a ninth-inning double by Turang that brought home Lara, but the deficit was already well out of reach by then.

San Diego has won four straight and improved to 64-57, sitting third in its division. Milwaukee, division leaders at 74-46, dropped its second in a row. Ty France went 2-for-5 and sits two home runs shy of 100 for his career, a milestone he'll look to reach in the coming days.
