The game hung level into the seventh. Then it didn't. Matt Olson's three-run homer broke a 2-2 tie and gave Atlanta a lead it would not surrender, sending the Braves to a 5-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Truist Park.

Olson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a strikeout and three RBIs, his only hit of the night carrying the biggest weight of the game. The blast traveled 437 feet to center. Austin Riley added two hits, including a double, and scored twice, while Drake Baldwin drove in a run and reached base on a hit and a walk.
Atlanta broke through first in the third when Baldwin singled to right, scoring Smith with Jarvis moving to third. Arizona answered in the fourth as Moreno homered to left to tie it, and the Braves regained the lead in the fifth when Acuña Jr. doubled to left to bring home Riley. Arizona tied it again in the seventh on Vargas' homer to right before Olson answered immediately, homering to center to score Riley and Baldwin and put the Braves ahead 5-2. Arizona's Tawa grounded out in the ninth to bring home Marte, but it wasn't enough.
Braves starter Bryce Elder allowed just 1 run on 4 hits over 6.0 innings with 5 strikeouts and a walk, carrying a 3.92 ERA. Arizona starter Mike Soroka matched him for most of the night, allowing 2 runs (2 earned) over 5.2 innings with 6 hits, 5 strikeouts and a 2.93 ERA, but the bullpens told a different story. Arizona's relief corps allowed 3 runs over 2.1 innings, with Taylor Clarke taking the loss after allowing 1 run in just 0.2 innings.
