Willson Contreras delivered the decisive blow, a three-run homer that put Boston ahead 3-1. The catcher finished 1-for-2 with two walks and three RBIs, earning game MVP honors. Wilyer Abreu added three hits and a triple, while Nick Sogard scored twice. In the fourth, Drew Gilbert and Rafael Devers each homered for San Francisco to pull within one, but Boston's lead held. Abreu tripled in the sixth to score Sogard and extend the margin to 6-4.
Sonny Gray allowed four runs on seven hits over six innings for the win, striking out six. Logan Webb lasted just 2⅔ innings for the Giants, charged with five runs on six hits while walking three. Aroldis Chapman closed out the ninth for his 28th save.
