Eduardo Rodriguez was the story on the mound. The Diamondbacks starter allowed four hits and two walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings, surrendering no runs. The bullpen followed with 3.1 scoreless innings, combining to allow three hits.
Corbin Carroll scored on Gabriel Moreno's single in the first inning to give Arizona the early lead. The second inning proved decisive: Jordan Lawlar hit a two-run homer, and Jose Fernandez scored on Ildemaro Vargas's sacrifice fly to make it 4-0. Lawlar added another run-scoring single in the seventh, and the Diamondbacks extended their advantage with two more runs in the eighth on Nolan Arenado's single and Tim Tawa's double.
Nick Lodolo lasted just 3.1 innings for Cincinnati, allowing six runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The Reds managed only four hits for the game and never threatened to score.
