Bryan Woo anchored Seattle’s effort with a sharp start, allowing only one earned run while striking out seven. He kept the Red Sox from turning their late momentum into a comeback.
Dominic Canzone opened the scoring with a homer in the first, and Mickey Gasper tied the game with a homer for Boston. J.P. Crawford’s sacrifice fly brought Josh Naylor home in the second to put Seattle back in front. Brock Rodden then brought Cole Young home with a single before Randy Arozarena’s homer brought Lazaro Montes and Brock Rodden across the plate.
Seattle continued to add on as Lazaro Montes homered and Cal Raleigh’s double brought Julio Rodríguez home. Boston answered with Caleb Durbin reaching on a throwing error that allowed Wilyer Abreu to score, Eli White’s double brought Connor Wong and Mickey Gasper home, and Jahmai Jones’ homer brought Roman Anthony across. The rally narrowed the gap, but it stopped short.
The Mariners’ early burst supplied the separation, while Woo’s controlled outing gave them enough room to withstand Boston’s late push.
