Fernando Tatis supplied the Padres’ biggest offensive spark, homering in the sixth and reaching on a fielding error in the seventh that allowed Xander Bogaerts to score. Jackson Merrill also homered, while Michael King anchored San Diego’s start before Mason Miller closed the game.

The turning point came in the fourth, when Dustin Harris’ sacrifice fly brought Samad Taylor home and put San Diego in front. Jake Cronenworth’s bunt single later brought Austin Hays across, and Tatis’ homer extended the lead.

San Francisco answered in the eighth. Drew Cavanaugh homered, then Drew Gilbert’s homer brought Christian Koss home and pulled the Giants within reach. San Diego’s bullpen, led by Mason Miller, kept the lead intact.

The Padres extended their winning streak, while the Giants absorbed another loss in a game defined by San Francisco’s late rally and San Diego’s ability to withstand it.
