Jackson Merrill set the tone with a sharp double in the first, and Fernando Tatis supplied offense throughout the game. Manny Machado also added a home run, while Wandy Peralta earned the win and Yuki Matsui closed the ninth.

Fernando Tatis Jr. and Dustin Harris scored on Jackson Merrill's opening-inning double. Fernando Tatis Jr. then singled home Samad Taylor, and Manny Machado's home run brought Tatis home. The Giants answered with Andrew Knizner's home run, but Fernando Tatis Jr. later singled home Ethan Salas to extend San Diego's lead.

San Francisco kept pressing after Logan Webb's outing, with Bryce Eldridge grounding out to bring home Christian Koss and Christian Koss singling home Scott Bandura. The bullpen held the Padres' advantage, however, and San Francisco could not complete the comeback.

The Padres extended their winning streak, while the Giants' losing streak continued. The game belonged to San Diego because of its early burst, even after the Giants made the finish uncomfortable.
