Ethan Salas supplied the biggest offensive punch, homering in the second and again in the fifth. Samad Taylor also drove the attack, while Ty France contributed a sacrifice fly and later doubled to keep San Diego moving forward.

Ty France's sacrifice fly brought Fernando Tatis home in the first, giving San Diego the lead. Jake Cronenworth's single brought Manny Machado across later in the inning, and Ethan Salas' homer added to the margin in the second. In the fifth, Samad Taylor's single brought home Jackson Merrill and Xander Bogaerts before Salas' second homer, which also brought Taylor home. France's double then brought Dustin Harris across in the sixth.

Robbie Ray worked through six innings for San Diego, while Colorado's starting pitcher allowed the Padres to build their advantage before departing. Kyle Karros' homer brought Connor Norby home in the sixth, but Colorado could not sustain the response.
