Ty France provided the biggest swing for San Diego, homering in the fifth after the Padres had moved in front. Jackson Merrill added another home run later, while the Padres kept pressure on with timely contributions from Dustin Harris and Samad Taylor.

Fernando Tatis Jr. first brought Xander Bogaerts home to tie the game in the fifth. Dustin Harris then singled to bring Jake Cronenworth and Samad Taylor across, giving San Diego the lead. France followed by homering, with Tatis and Harris scoring on the play.

Agustín Ramírez gave Miami an early lead with a home run, and Javier Sanoja later brought Otto Lopez home. But Nick Pivetta kept the Marlins from doing more damage, while Miami's Tyler Zuber and Cade Gibson were unable to contain San Diego's surge.

San Diego extended its winning streak, and the late insurance kept the one-inning burst from becoming a tense finish.
