Cal Quantrill made sure this one never got interesting. The Rangers scored in the first, second and third innings, and that was more than enough support for a start that kept Washington off balance all night in a 5-0 win at Globe Life Field.

Quantrill worked seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits with five strikeouts and no walks across 91 pitches. The bullpen finished it off, with three relievers covering the final two innings without allowing a run. Washington's lineup managed seven hits on the night but could never turn the traffic into runs against Quantrill or the relief corps that followed him.
Texas did its damage early. Jake Burger grounded into a double play in the first inning that still brought Wyatt Langford home, giving the Rangers a lead they would not relinquish. Justin Foscue added to it in the second with a solo homer to left field. The third inning put the game away: Brandon Nimmo's fielder's choice grounder scored Langford, Foscue walked to bring in Corey Seager, and Cody Freeman's infield single off the third baseman plated Nimmo, capping a three-run frame that pushed the score to 5-0.
Jackson Kent took the loss for Washington, allowing 5 runs on 8 hits over 3.2 innings with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Trevor Williams followed and kept the Rangers scoreless over 3.1 innings, but the deficit built by Kent's outing was already too much to overcome. The Nationals' bullpen, Williams included, actually allowed no runs the rest of the way — it just came too late.
The win improved Texas to 62-64 and extended its winning streak to two games. Washington fell to 60-67, losing its fourth straight.
