Shohei Ohtani supplied the biggest blow of the night, homering to right center in the third inning to score Feduccia and put the Dodgers back in front. He finished 1-for-5 with the homer and 2 RBI. Freddie Freeman added two hits and 2 RBI, including a sacrifice fly, while Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez each doubled in a run during a three-run fourth. Tommy Edman scored twice and collected two doubles of his own.
Colorado matched Los Angeles blow for blow early. Cole Carrigg's double scored McCarthy in the first to tie it, and in the third, Rumfield and Norby delivered back-to-back doubles that brought the Rockies level again at 3-3. But Tucker's double in the fourth scored Edman and gave the Dodgers a lead they would not relinquish, part of a three-run inning that also saw T. Hernandez score on another Tucker-aided double and Freeman drive in a run with a sacrifice fly. Willi Castro answered with a solo homer to left center in the fifth, and Colorado chipped away with RBI singles from Veen in the eighth and Castro in the ninth, but could not complete the comeback.
Rockies starter Ryan Feltner took the loss, allowing 7 runs on 8 hits over 5.0 innings with 3 strikeouts. Eric Lauer got the win for Los Angeles, working 5.0 innings and allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts. The Dodgers' bullpen covered four innings and allowed 2 runs, while Colorado's relievers threw four scoreless innings in relief of Feltner. Tanner Scott worked 1.1 innings for the save, his 17th of the season, despite giving up a run in the ninth.
Willi Castro was named the game's top performer after going 2-for-3 with the homer, 2 RBI and 2 walks. The result extended the Dodgers' win streak to two games as they improved to 76-51, sitting atop their division. Colorado fell to 50-76, losing its second straight. Scott, who picked up the save, remains five saves shy of 100 for his career and two games shy of 500 career games played.
